One Week In: Building a Global Money Channel on 5 Hours of Sleep
Day 7
Today marks one full week since I began my startup journey.
Every day this week, I came home past 9 p.m. after a 10-hour shift at the salon.
And yet, I’ve been working on my business until 1 a.m.—
That’s just 5 hours of sleep each night.
Yes, I’m exhausted.
But I also know…
This is the crucial phase—the one I must push through.
Finalizing My Business Idea
After seven intense days of research, planning, and reflection, I’ve locked in my idea:
A YouTube channel that shares money-related trivia for beginners, aimed at a global audience.
Let me break that down.
Why This Niche?
Money is always relevant.
It’s one of the most evergreen, in-demand topics—and it will stay that way.
I chose trivia-style content because:
- I’m not a financial expert.
- But I can create videos that make people say, “Oh! I didn’t know that.”
- The goal isn’t to teach deep strategies—it’s to spark curiosity.
My target audience is people who want to learn about money,
but don’t even know where to begin.
They scroll through Instagram or TikTok, jump from post to post,
hoping something clicks.
My videos will be that first click.
Why Go Global?
I could have focused on Japanese viewers.
But two key reasons led me to go global:
- Larger audience size
- Higher ad revenue (CPM) in English-speaking countries
If I’m putting in this much effort, I want to build something that scales.
And the global market offers just that.
Video Format: Quick, Snackable, and Smart
I’ve decided on two main formats:
- 3-minute full videos: Ideal for YouTube and learning platforms
- 30-second Shorts: Perfect for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok
This short-form approach matches my broad + shallow content strategy.
Just like flipping through books at a bookstore—
My videos are the “preview pages” that help viewers figure out what they want to learn more about.
Using AI to Optimize Workflow
Starting tomorrow, I’ll begin full production.
To speed things up and stay consistent, I’ll be working closely with ChatGPT.
It helps me brainstorm ideas, write scripts, and organize content faster than I ever could alone.
Time is my biggest constraint.
So every tool that saves time is an ally.
One Week Down. So Many More to Go.
I’m tired.
But I’m proud.
In just one week, I’ve gone from zero to having:
- A clear business idea
- A defined audience and strategy
- A production framework
Next week is all about execution.
It’s time to create, publish, and learn by doing.
Let’s see where this goes.
Because even if I’m running on five hours of sleep,
this dream is what keeps me wide awake.
This blog documents my real-time 90-day journey to start a business from scratch—no fame, no funding, just pure determination.
Based in Japan, I’m sharing each step honestly to inspire others who want to change their lives, too.
Follow along, and let’s grow together.
